Employer Match

An employer match is money your company adds to your retirement account based on how much you contribute. A common formula is matching 50% or 100% of your contributions up to a set percentage of your salary. Not contributing enough to earn the full match means leaving free money on the table.

Example

With a 100% match up to 4% of a $60,000 salary, contributing at least $2,400 earns you another $2,400 from your employer.
